Essential Office Supplies For Your New Business
♫ Wednesday, April 21st, 2010If you’re launching a new business, then perhaps you’ve got all the office products you need. Alternatively, you might be so involved with ensuring that you’ve got your products ready to sell, and that you’ve got your business banking sorted out, that you haven’t given your office supplies any thought. Here’s what you need.
1. You’ll want to make sure that you have the paper products you need. You’ll need to ensure that you have at least got printer paper, envelopes, padded envelopes, and photograph quality paper, depending on what products or services your business is selling.
2. Even in the modern office, pens and pads are still as important as ever. All staff will need a pen and pad, and you might want to give your employees a desk diary, or additional sticky note pads as well as telephone pads.
3. Mobile and landline telephones shouldn’t be neglected either. You’ll need to ensure that you also have your internet connection sorted well in advance anyway. If you’ve got field bases sales or support staff, you’ll want to make sure that they have the phones and accessories they need.
4. Computers are playing an increasingly important role in the modern office, so you’ll need to have the right number and sort of computers, monitors, laptops, data storage, and accessories so that you and your staff can work effectively.
5. You’ll want to make sure that you have the right sort of printers too. If you’re regularly printing out documents for clients, then you’ll need good quality colour laser printers. If you’re printing out a couple of letters once or twice a month, then you might be better off with an inkjet printer.
6. Whichever type, and model of printer you choose, you’ll want to make sure that you have plenty of inkjet cartridges or toner cartridges for it. Most new printers are shipped with cartridges that are only partially filled, so you can’t rely on the cartridge on a new printer lasting long, especially if it’s used a lot.
7. Even today, a fax machine is still useful and will mean that you don’t have to scan documents in before sending them to customers or suppliers. In addition, you’ll definitely need a good and capable shredder to keep your sensitive information away from prying eyes.
8. Office furniture is vital, and without it you and your staff won’t have anywhere to sit and work. You’ll want to have the right sort of chairs and desks, and filing cabinets, and other furniture. Don’t forget your reception area either. You won’t want your clients and visitors to get the wrong impression of your company.
